In a busy world, full of distractions, we need time to ensure that marginalized voices are heard with attention firmly focused on the issues that matter the most to LGBTQ+ students and young people starting their careers in the workplace.

Queer Students Day - taking place on Wednesday 5th February 2025 - is an opportunity for us to synchronise and amplify their voices across the UK. Using a shared theme we invite you to host your own events across the UK to raise awareness of the issues that matter the most to young LGBTQ+ people.

  • Anyone with an interest in amplifying the voices and experiences of young LGBTQ+ people. This could include, but is not limited to, schools, colleges and universities focused on their pupils and students, and student employers currently hiring and training interns, apprentices and graduates.

  • The theme for QSD2025 (and The Queer Student Awards next June) is ‘Queer Power’. This can be interpreted in a number of ways including:

    • The power of community

    • The power of solidarity

    • The power of allyship

    • The power we have, and the power that we don’t

  • You can interpret our theme in whatever way you like, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with. Once you’ve decided on your interpretation of the theme, think about what event type you would like to host.

    Some suggestions include:

    • A themed assembly in your school/college

    • A debate/discussion on campus

    • A fundraiser for a specific LGBTQ+ charity

    • A live podcast recording

    • An educational workshop

    • An event hosted by your LGBTQ+ employee resource group which has been organised by your trainee apprentices and/or graduates

    • A collaboration with a local school, college or university and their LGBTQ+ community group

Please share details about your event(s) with us at hello@thequeerstudentawards.co.uk and use #QSD2025 on your social posts to help us share!
